Maintenance and Call Out Service

REM provide a full maintenance and call out service for automatic gates, doors, traffic barriers, bollards, turnstiles and access security systems.

This includes all brands of equipment supplied and installed by REM or by others. We have access to obtain parts and service almost all brands of equipment.

Call Out Service

(24 hour, 7 day week call out service)

REM technicians have been extensively trained to diagnose the most complex problems that can arise with your access control system. All service vehicles carry a complete inventory of tools and parts to ensure minor repairs and faults are carried out on the first visit minimising downtime of equipment and additional call out costs. Our customers are assured a quick and efficient response to any service request.

Preventative Maintenance

We provide preventative service/maintenance visits through various options;

Preventative maintenance contracts; providing 1, 2, 3, or 4 service visits per annum to suit level of use of equipment
Standard service/maintenance visits on a call out basis as required (no maintenance contract)
Preventative maintenance contracts can be tailored to suit the client’s needs.
Not all sites require the same standard maintenance contracts, depending on various conditions e.g. In addition to the standard service/maintenance visits some sites request
- Additional monthly visual inspections
- Either one or more standard call outs for budget puposes.
  (Any call outs related to the maintenance contract that are not used during the contract term are rolled over to the following year)

Our Preventative Maintenance Contract provides;

24 hour, 7 day week emergency call out service including bank holidays, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Priority listing for call outs for maintenance contract holders
Same day response for call outs to maintenance contract holders, if the call out is logged before 10am.
If a call out is logged after 10am, we will endeavour to call same day or next day at the latest.
Any extreme emergency calls will be responded to immediately.
We offer preventative maintenance contracts to all residential and commercial applications
Flat rate callout fee (No additional hourly rates or mileage or overtime rates for contract holders)
Remote Technical Back Up Support
Full compliance with Health and Safety Regulations and Manufacturer’s instructions.

Benefit of Regular maintenance;

Optimises the performance and safety of the equipment particularly ensuring the proper working of safety devices. All safety devices and features should be checked on a regular basis and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and Health and Safety Regulations, so they continue to function as designed and to ensure that safety is maintained
Relevant adjustments and calibrations will be carried out to ensure that the equipment is maintained in correct and safe working order
On completion of the service/maintenance check, a detailed report and checklist will be given outlining the condition of the equipment and any recommendations or suggestions we may have.
regularly review risk assessments, taking account of or any changes to the operating conditions or environment
Check risk to pedestrians on crushing zones on automatic gates and make recommendations if required
Ongoing reliability
Maximises the life span of the equipment
Regular service/maintenance minimises the chance of third party claims for injury or damage
Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations

Responsibity of The Owner

The occupier is responsible for the safe and correct use of the automatic equipment on site and must ensure that safety checks are made on a regular basis.
There should be no obstructions or distractions, in the vicinity of the automatic gates, doors or barriers etc, which will congest or inhibit traffic flow including hedges, branches, stones, leaves near gates and barriers or e.g. literature racks, merchandising displays, decorations etc near automatic doors.
Check safety features of the equipment e.g. safety (photocells/loops/edges) for correct operation, regularly
Legislation regarding the use of automatic gates applies within
- The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER.)
- The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Occupiers Liability Act 1957 & 1984
